Film Florals
Set decoration – Fruit and Floral Tower, Poe, tv mystery series,
Pictured are three techs adjusting the lighting for a party scene in “Poe”, a mystery set in the early 1800s. I built the three-tiered champagne table complete with twirling mirrored candelabra then decorated it with fruit, flowers and candlesticks.
Set decoration – Bouquet in the condo of a socialite, King, tv series
In these digital days, tv production values are very high and detail is more important than ever. Fresh flowers add life to a set and can say as much about the inhabiting character as her action and dialogue.
Set decoration – JFK speech in Dallas, The Kennedys, mini-series
“It looks exactly like the photo in Life magazine!” declared Rocco, the production designer when he came to check the set pictured here. I love working on period pieces but the Kennedy miniseries was rewarding because so many people have such a vivid memory of that era. The series was nominated for an Emmy for set decoration and art direction.
Event Florals
Event - Wedding
Feathers add a touch of nature and whimsy to the floral décor of the wedding of Stef and David Margulies. Fascinators for all!
Event - Birthday photo 1
Thousands of feet of diaphanous fabric draped the rear gardens of the Rotman’s home and moonlight-dappled lilacs nodded in the trees. The easy elegance of the final scene pictured here belied the days of heavy lifting, the machinery used to hoist everything into place, and the pneumonia-inducing weather beyond the tent walls. See photo 2 for another view.

Event - Charity Ball,

Shaw Theatre chose the theme of silent movies for their annual fundraiser so to transform the Four Seasons ballroom into a glamorous star-studded nightclub, I made ostrich plume towers and magic lantern candle covers. Also see photo 2 for a close-ip

Event - Client Appreciation
ScotiaBank wanted to give their special clients an evening at the theatre. I have decorated many like events: some densely decorated (a secret forest for “Lord of the Rings” at Princess of Wales), atmospheric and sophisticated (a twenties nightclub for Sofie Milman at Carlu), and visually transporting (a Russian village square for Gogol’s “Inspector” at Soulpepper) but “Billie Elliot” at the Design Exchange was iconic.
Imagine a room full of tiny Billy Elliots jette-ing for joy off gleaming lumps of coal
on every table.
